Heart of Worship

I often listen to worship songs during my devotional time and have a lot of thoughts. Here are some of my musings. I included the songs I was listening to and encourage you to listen to it too while you read.

Thoughts:

What exactly is a "heart of worship?" We use the phrase in church often. We'll write songs about it. But I do we ever really explain it? I don't have the most eloquent answers. I don't pretend to know too much. But I feel like it's a heart that has felt the love of God. Heard Him say " I am willing' and responds to the savior with reverence adoration and an "I am willing" of its own.

From the dawn of time the response of our Christ redeemer has been "I am willing." Willing to do what? Willing to love. Willing to forgive. Willing  to forget. Willing to heal. Willing to cleanse. Willing to save. Willing to advocate. Willing to intercede. Willing to befriend. Willing to bleed. The list goes on and on. The list is so extensively long in the very best of ways. Whatever you stand in need of, his response has been "I am Willing." So when I think of what it means to worship or have a heart that is postured to worship, I stop and consider the overwhelming statement of "I am willing" driven by his overwhelming love. And I respond "God I am willing." I am willing to trust you. To believe you. Lord I'm willing leave all that I've known and follow you. Anywhere you go, anywhere you ask me to go. I am willing to walk through the valleys of life even though it'd hard. Willing to sacrifice and be put in the fire to be changed and made a new. Willing to hold the tension of your sovereignty and my humanity. Willing to hold on to my fear and awe of you. Willing to die to my desires and my will so your kingdom come and your will be done.

Is it not the greatest love statement to respond with the same energy when presented the purest of love. I can not do all Christ has done for me. I can't even compete. I don't presume to even try. But "I am willing' is my declaration of choice. My choice to pick up my cross and walk after the one who said "I AM WILLING" first.

Anchor Scriptures:

    Isaiah 25:1 (CSB)

"Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you. I will praise your name for you have accomplished wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness."

    Psalms 63:3-4 (CSB)

"Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So i will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
